This article will be a bit different than usual: we will talk about the sense of humor in the Italian language. Obviously, humor is a human ability that is independent from the spoken language, but today I want to talk about how humor works in Italian: I’ll tell you some jokes and we’ll see if you can understand them before reading the explanation.

Writing well means creating clear and well-articulated clauses, in order to convey the message properly and unequivocally. Therefore it’s good to know the rules that are the basis of the formation of the period, namely the complex sentence formed by two or more simple clauses (or “proposizione”). Thus, in the following lesson we are going to see together how to analyze a clause. At the end of the video related to this topic, you can test yourselves with some sentences to analyze.

In order to properly comprehend the meaning of a sentence, it’s often necessary to understand the role that all the elements composing it play. In this lesson we will address the famous “set or idiomatic phrases”: some love them, others hate them, but everyone knows them! The set phrases are those fixed phrases that never change and that we hear so much that are almost trivial. But it is essential to know them in order to have a natural and fluent conversation!

In the following lesson, we are going to deal with a topic that’s very confusing for foreign students (and some Italians too), namely SI impersonale, since it has rather complex and particular formation rules.
